Around the world, the Palm Jumeirah has become a symbol of Dubai's incredible innovation, luxury and ambition. The man-made island stretches into the Arabian Gulf in the shape of a palm tree and consists of a trunk, a crown with 16 fronds, and a surrounding crescent island that forms an 11 kilometer long breakwater. The island’s total area is estimated to be larger than 800 football pitches and is considered the world’s largest artificial island.

The largest man made islands in the world, the eighth wonder, the spectacular Jumeirah Palm Islands. There wouldn’t be enough words to describe the Jumeirah Palm Islands. When Palm Jumeirah were created, it changed Dubai forever.

It is said that the Palm Islands are visible even from outer space. Undoubtedly, one of the most ambitious and successful engineering projects undertaken by man, the Palm Islands are largely and solely responsible for catapulting Dubai into a globally reputed tourist destination.

The Palm which includes the trunk and the fronds have exquisite Garden Homes, Signature Villas and Canal Cove Town Homes each one of which is spacious, luxurious and fully furnished. Several celebrities have already claimed their piece of the Palm Island.

The island features beachfront properties, including waterfront apartments, villas, restaurants and hotels, all with spectacular views of the sea. The residential areas are located on the trunk and fronds of the island while hotels are located on the breakwater that surrounds The Palm. The breakwater is accessible through an underwater tunnel or the monorail.

Palm Island Dubai (Jumeirah Palm Island) is one of the most ambitious real-estate developments on earth, heralded as the 8th wonder of the world as it can be seen from space along with another major landmark, The Great Wall of China. It is one of three islands called the Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali and Palm Deira) which extend into the Persian Gulf. Jumeirah Palm island features themed hotels, villas, apartment buildings, beaches, marinas, restaurants, and a variety of retail outlets. The most popular feature being 5 star aqua themed hotel Atlantis.

History of Making Palm Jumeirah Island

Palm Jumeirah, part of the Palm Islands project. The creation of these artificial islands, each shaped like a palm leaf, has been of Dubai’s flagship building ventures of the 21st century. The Palm Jumeirah has already added several kilometers of coastline to Dubai and, although it looks fantastic from Dubai Marina at ground level, is best viewed from above. The Palm Jumeirah is an artificial archipelago created using land reclamation by Nakheel, a company owned by the Dubai government in United Arab Emirates and was designed and developed by HHCP architects. It is one of the planned islands called the Palm Islands (Palm Jumeirah, Palm Jebel Ali) which would have extended into the Persian Gulf, increasing Dubai's shoreline by a total of 520 kilometers (320 mi). The Palm Jumeirah is the smallest and the original of the Palm Islands originally under development by Nakheel. It is located on the Jumeirah coastal area of the emirate of Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates . Palm Jumeirah is the world’s largest man-made island and is comprised of a two kilometer long trunk, a crown made up of 17 fronds and a surrounding crescent. The first of such islands that comprise Nakheel's signature development, will be followed by The Palm Jebel Ali.

Following a number of years of feasibility studies, the Palm Jumeirah was launched in 2001, with reclamation starting in the same year. From the end of 2006, the island's first residences – comprising 4,000 luxury villas and apartments were handed over during a phased period. Since then, the tourism, leisure and retail elements of the island have been developed, creating a spectacular, world-renowned residential and tourism destination.
