Downtown Burj Dubai district is the most high-end residential area in Dubai and most obviously was the center of the strong real estate market of 2012 to early 2014. This area boasts some of the most valuable real estate not just in Dubai but in the region.

The center-piece of this project is of course the Burj Khalifa, but there are a dozen other complexes and stand-alone residential buildings. Retail activity can be found below most of the residential buildings along the main boulevard that cuts through Downtown. There is also the world’s largest mall – Dubai Mall – which has over 1,200 outlets. Other retail activity is in the Souk Al Bahar - designed as a traditional bazaar but has high-end outlets, restaurants and cafes. One of the biggest draws to the community is the dancing Dubai Fountains which is the show-piece of man-made lake in the center of Downtown. An Opera House is currently under-construction.
