A plan to build a 15km extension to Dubai Metro to link it to the site of the Expo 2020 event has been welcomed by developer Nakheel.
More than 110,000 people who live in some of Nakheel's biggest and fastest-growing communities are set to benefit from the the extension, the developer said on Monday in a statement.
It added that it expected the value of homes in its communities to be boosted by the transport project.
The expansion project, which was approved by Dubai ruler Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum last week, will directly serve Nakheel's Gardens, Discovery Gardens and Al Furjan communities, and provide nearby Metro access for residents of Jumeirah Park, Jumeirah Islands and Jumeirah Village Triangle.
