If you have heard of manmade lakes and other manmade marvels, then you would fascinated by Dubai Marina. It is an artificial canal city, built along a two mile stretch of Persian Gulf shoreline.Dubai Marina is located on Interchange 5 between Jebel Ali Port and the area which hosts Dubai Internet City, Dubai Media City and the American University in Dubai. Dubai Marina was inspired by the Concord Pacific Place development along False Creek in Vancouver, BC, Canada. It is also one of the few places where Europeans form a majority.
In order to create the man made Marina, the developers brought the waters from the Persian Gulf into the main site and created a new water front. It has been developed by the real estate development firm Emaar Properties of UAE and designed by HOK China. Upon completion, it is claimed to be the world's largest man made Marina.
The entire Dubai Marina is divided into two phases. The first phase has already been completed and covers almost twenty five acres of space. It includes six freehold apartment buildings called the Dubai Marina Towers. Three of the towers have been named Al Mass, Fairooz and Murjan after precious stones, and other three have been named Mesk, Anbar and Al Yass after Arabic scents. The Dubai Marina Walk is a seven kilometer long pedestrian walkway that runs along the waterfront till the end of Dubai Marina. It has lots of cafes and restaurants along the waterfront and boats moored up alongside.
The second phase will consist of all high rise buildings clustered together into a block called the "Tallest Block in the world". The buildings will range between heights of 250 meters to 516 meters. There are other residential complexes in the Dubai Marina like the Jumeirah Beach Residences which is the largest single phase development in the world and contains 40 towers. It can accommodate about fifteen thousand people in its apartments and penthouses. The Walk and The Beach, at JBR are very famous for their fine dining options and entertainment.
Other residential complexes here are Al Sahab, Al Majara, Marina Promenade and Park Island. If you are fond of shopping then the Dubai Marina has a lot to offer to you. The Marina Quays and Dubai Marina Mall are open for residents as well as visitors. The Dubai Marina is very well connected to the rest of the city by road as well as by Metro. It is a rapid transit station on the Red Line of the Dubai Metro. Dubai Marina is located near Interchange 5 of Sheikh Zayed Road.
